Revisiting Old Patterns

I was looking at this on my shelf the other day and thought maybe I should share the pattern again. And maybe after 3 years, finally fully finish it! LOL

(Butterflies are Mill Hill kits.)

Hot air balloons + Scripture + a little orange stow-away. What's not to love?!

If you would like the free cross stitch pattern (copyright laws still apply), you can find it by clicking HERE.

Have a peace-full weekend!

:) Ann

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ,

set your hearts on things above, where Christ is,

seated at the right hand of God.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is your life, appears,

then you also will appear with him in glory.

FREE Cross Stitch Patterns - Fruit of the Spirit

I so was inspired by a post in a "slow stitching" FB group the other day, that I immediately gathered up a ton of supplies and started stitching the next day. A lady by the name of Sharon Wilson made a fabric collage banner and each "flag" had a fruit of the Spirit hand stitched on it. Sooo lovely.

Here is my start on the fruit "love."

Mine is, of course, rather bright and obnoxious in it's 80's color palette, but those were the fun buttons, beads, ribbons, fabrics, and left over DMC flosses that I had! I had found this adorable Marjolein Bastin stationary box at Goodwill for $4.99 and this is the perfect project to stuff inside it. I added some beads to the string closure too!

I started with the word "Love" and just free stitched it. Some lovely Instagram friends mentioned that they'd like the chart, so here it it!

I will add the other "fruit" to this post as I make them up.

** UPDATE: I finished this project and have added all of the cross stitch charts below. I will add a video of the final pieces to my youtube channel soon. **

(I was indecisive for this one, but only had a tiny space to xstitch since I wanted it to be on the door of the house. I used the verticle one and centered the A better.)

I can't wait to use bits and bobs of my favorite leftover fabric scraps and beads and embroider some flowers and crochet flowers and ALL. THE. STUFF.

I am planning on going slow with this project. So who wants to join me for a fruity summer???

Enjoy!

Ann :)

FREE Cross Stitch Pattern Our Father FALL Colors

Well it only took me a year! OK, maybe 2. But I have finally updated my "Our Father" pattern with new, muted, fall colors! It was so hard to narrow it down, but I think these colors are so rich and beautiful together. Stitched on your favorite cream or tan fabric, it should look simply amazing.

Here are the DMC flosses together! My phone camera made them a bit brighter than they actually are.

If you decide to stitch this, please tag me on Instagram @AnnMakesThings so I can see it.

Have a peace-full day,
:) Ann

FREE Cross Stitch Pattern - God's Covenant Rainbow

Folks be trippin'. Can I get an "Amen"? :)

I am so grateful that not only has God promised to NOT wipe everything out with a flood again, that He HAS also promised to keep us from the wrath that is to come.

And daily I pray, "Save all who would be saved and come, Lord Jesus!" Sometimes I add, "cuz it's getting crazy down here!"

Anyhow, I am grateful for His promises, mercy and grace to us!

I have been wanting to do a rainbow cross stitch pattern for a year now and it finally came together this weekend. I did two different versions.

One with my fun, bright, 1980's colors! And another that is a more "modern" rainbow with muted colors; however, after stitching it up, it looks very 1970's!

Groovy!

Be blessed,

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

PPQ Strawberry SAL

Don't we all just love Melisa over at Pinkern Punkin Quilting???

(There are lots of links to her blog below, so please click on the underlined phrases.)

Well when she posted her latest strawberry designs, I knew I just had to stitch them all as a 9 patch quilt like her Spring bluebird SAL and Autumn squirrel SAL from the last two years.

UPDATE: finished! 💚🍓💚🍓💚
Original post:
Yesterday I finalized my fabric, floss, and pattern placement.

Here are the colors I picked:
Update: I added 605 for the light pink.

My fabric is a 14 count white aida from Hobby Lobby that I dyed with Rit dye (aquamarine I believe). It is barely big enough, but I plan on sewing fabric around the edges.

Here is the placement of the patterns:
Update: the bottom row will be Shortcake, Quilt, and Ice Cream.

Click HERE for the Ice Cream pattern as well as links to the other 8 patterns.

I tried to place them in order of berry picking! (Berries, picked, eaten with cream, made into jam, and then pie and cake!) Yummy! She states that there are two more that will be released, so I'll add them on the bottom row.

The first 7 patterns are linked in THIS blog post on Melisa's blog. And today she has a strawberry parade of several other patterns!! Soo berry cute!

Oh no! I may have to add the Strawberry Picker somewhere on my piece!!! I love him!

I even made a little zipper fob yesterday for my project bag.

I'll be posting my progress on Instagram and if you decide to join in, please use the hashtag #PPQstrawberrySAL so I can see your work!

So excited to start this! Thank you, Melisa!!!

UPDATE: finished! Love it so much!
I added a little cow's head to the milk bottle. It is from Melisa's Spring on the Farm pattern HERE.

Be blessed,
Ann :)

FREE Cross Stitch Pattern Giant Granny Square

Welp, I'm up to one of my crazy projects again! This mornign my Instagram friend, Elizabeth @SolerStitches, shared THIS VIDEO from Morgan Renfro who is painting a cross stitch pattern on her wall!!! Ummmm.... hello!!! I am on it!!!

Update! Here is the (mostly) finished wall!

I went through some of my finishes over the last few years and decided a giant version of my free granny square pattern would be perfect.

Rainbow Granny Square Cross Stitch Pattern by AnnMakesThings

A cross stitch pattern + a crochet pattern + painting really big on a wall = perfection!!

I quickly made a larger version in PCStitch and voila, I am ready to paint! Well the wall I'm thinking of painting really needs a new color as the base so it may be a little bit before I am able to add a cross stitched crocheted granny square to it.

Follow me on Instagram to enjoy my crazy journey!

Here is the pattern I will be using, but I will probably be adjusting the colors. Let me know if you're going to join in on this fun project too!

Lately, I have been feeling so down and dreary (hello, cold rainy weather, I'm looking at you) and this project has put the spring back in my step!

Have a color-full day,
Ann :)

he will exult over you with loud singing."

FREE Cross Stitch Journal Page Project Tracker

I LOVE to be organized and have things in folders and binders and all the office supply store goodies. One of my favorite jobs back in the olden days, was working for Kinko's.

Anyhow, I have been keeping my cross stitch project notes in a cheap notebook for years. It was finally filled up so I decided to create my own project journal page/project tracker!

These can easily be printed double-sided and then either hole punched and put into a notebook or folded up and put with the project. How fun!

** Click HERE for the PDF download of my Cross Stitch Journal Page.**

Let me know if there are any items/notes/features you would like in future versions.

Here is my first page filled out and ready for my first #AnnLovesBirds50 project! Four gorgeous birds by Lesley Teare.

Oh, also check out how easy it was to make a floss card (though i should have used cardstock). After I wrote down the floss info on the back of the project tracker page, I copied it, cut it down, hole punched the side, and added the floss!! How cute and easy!

Have a blessed day,

:) Ann
